Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. This invovles the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons and even nerves inside of you. Physiotherapy asssessment involves a detailed history where I get to know more about you as a person, what you are struggling with, your social life and even sleeping positions. I will then look at how you move in certain directions, as well as completing a series of "special tests" to accurately diagnose your issues and form a plan with you to get you back to what you enjoy in life.

Common conditions I have come across and helped people with include but are not limited to:

  • Knee and Hip osteoarthritis

  • Low back pain and sciatica

  • Sport/Gym injuries such as tennis and golfers elbow

  • Whiplash injuries

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Shoulder pain

  • Fractures

  • Post surgical rehabilitation

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can help with a very localised muscle related issue or can be used in the treatment of more global pains caused by conditions such as fibromyalgia.

Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years originating from ancient China and uses small strategically placed needles to improve your symptoms and restore function. These single use needles help the body produce natural pain killers and can ease your tight muscles. Sometimes only one well placed needle is required, other times multiple needles in multiple areas may give you a better response.          Acupuncture can help with a very localised muscle related issue or can be used in the treatment of more global pains caused by conditions such as fibromyalgia

Conditions that acupuncture can help improve include but are not limited to:

  • General stiffness and tightness

  • Headaches

  • Joint issues suchas knee osteoarthritis

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Tendon issues such as tennis or golfers elbow

  • Sacro-iliac Joint Dysfunction

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is an evdience based treatment that can improve a vast array of issues such as golfers or tennis elbow, plantarfasciitis and frozen shoulder. Although it sounds electrical, it is actually soundwaves that are paseed through the machine and gel, through your skin and directed at the target tissue. This results in increased blood flow to the area, increasing something called cell proliferation and releasing a natural pain killer called substance P.  A course of shockwave therapy usually lasts between 4 and 6 sessions and some people can feel better after their first one.

Conditions that can be treated using shcokwave therapy include but is not limited to:

  • Frozen Shoulder

  • Tennis and Golfers ELbow

  • De Quervains Tenosynovitis

  • Gluteal Tendinopathy

  • Piriformis Snydrome

  • Achilles Tendinopathy

  • Plantar Fasciitis
