Process after booking appointment

Upon Booking

You will receive an email with confirmation of your appointment. There will also be a link to a consent form and a registration questionnaire to fill in. Please may you complete these at least 24 hours prior to your appointment so that I can prepare for our session and we can make the best use of our time together.

Day of the Appointment

Upon arriving at Brogdale farm, please make your way to the building on the right and follow the Atlas Physiotherapy Clinic signs to the chairs in the corridor. Please see the Directions PDF attached to the email confirmation if you are unsure where I am located on Brogdale Farm.

During the initial appointment, I will get to know you better, what your symptoms mean to you, and how they are limiting the things you enjoy in life. This will encompass what aggravates your pain, as well as what might make it feel a bit better. I will ask you about your job, any hobbies you enjoy and even what side you sleep on at night (if needed, I'm not just being nosey, I promise!).

After our chat, I will then assess how you move physically, as well as looking at your strength and quality of movement. I will also feel around the painful area to try and locate the source of your pain. Whilst this can be uncomfortable, it is in order for me to be able to identify what is causing you your issues and will help us form a plan to get you on the path to recovery.

In order for me to be able to help you as much as possible, I will need to be able to see the area that is causing you your pain. In order for this to happen, wearing loose fitting clothing is a great idea. We can work around this if required and you can have a friend or family member come along to the appointment with you.

After assessing you, we will come up with a treatment plan between us. This may involve some manual hands on techniques, exercises, as well as some alternative movements or options that can be discussed further.

Following the Appointment

We will agree on how often we need to see each other, as some conditions can get better quickly and after only a single appointment, whereas others may require longer term input (if you can put up with me for that long!). You will be in complete control of booking your follow-up appointments and how often you would like these.

I will provide you with recommendations in our appointment, for example, if having Shockwave Therapy this can be more effective to have on a weekly basis. However, Physiotherapy appointments will depend on how frequently you are able to engage with the exercises provided and the impact on your pain.
